Overall evaluation of VR controllers for 2022
VR Controller design is a project looking at the overall market of controllers in 2022 as well as proposing usability testing and user evaluations to re-design a universal controller.
Examining factors influencing the interaction between human and robot co-workers
Examining factors influencing interactions between human and robot coworkers aims to bridge the gap in Human-Robot Interactions (HRI) literature by exploring how training and robot embodiment affect these interactions. The study is divided into two parts: the first investigates acceptance factors among different training and embodiment groups, while the second applies the findings in a workplace setting to assess impact on workflow and performance. The research seeks to improve human-robot coworker relations through empirical evaluation of training methods and robot design.
Acceptance of Climate Change
Acceptance of Climate Change explores the complex issue of public acceptance of climate change, categorizing it as a "wicked" problem due to its multifaceted nature and resistance to simple solutions. It emphasizes the role of sociocultural factors, political affiliations, and individual beliefs in shaping perceptions of climate change. The authors propose using a multi-factored action-perception model to understand and influence public attitudes and behaviors towards climate change, incorporating data from various sources to address this challenge comprehensively.
Proposed Robot: Med-Bo
The project focuses on designing "Med-Bo," an in-home medical aid robot intended as a part of a broader home network to support successful aging. It addresses the challenges older adults face with medication adherence, cognitive declines, and the risk of social isolation. Med-Bo is envisioned to assist with medication management, provide easy access to medical information, and offer companionship, thereby enhancing the ability of older adults to age in place. The design emphasizes simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and integration into smart home ecosystems for future scalability.
VR Acceleration perception
The project explores acceleration as a crucial element in perceiving the world. It examines the concepts of position, velocity, and acceleration to understand motion and its perception. The study delves into the direct and indirect perception of acceleration to analyze how acceleration is detected and processed. It also investigates acceleration's role in social interactions, suggesting that acceleration can provide valuable insights into social dynamics like competitiveness and cooperation.
The research further explores the implications of acceleration perception in understanding animacy and intelligence, emphasizing its significance in social cognition and the potential for future studies to further unravel the intricate relationship between movement dynamics and perceptual processing.
Data Visualization using R
The two PowerPoint projects are examples of early learning in data visualization using R.
The Midterm project utilized previous data and sought to improve the design of previously made graphs.
The final project sought to have students find large datasets and be able to select and visualize specific points. The project utilized 2019 covid data and looked at troubled states, specifically the differences between male and females within the states to visualize differences in death tolls.
